Did you know that throughout the month of March Irish History Month takes place? An initiative brought about by the Irish Arts Foundation in Leeds, Irish History Month exists to promote the many positive contributions that Irish people have made in Leeds and also to introduce new audiences to the vibrancy of Irish arts, heritage, culture, and history.

The Gathering

Untold Stories

Untold Stories is a community archive project which looks at experiences of the emigrant Irish community in Leeds in the second half of the twentieth century, particularly their settlement patterns and cultural traditions such as music, dance, song and sport.

Wheel of The Year

The Wheel of The Year

Funding has been secured from the Ireland Fund (GB) to deliver our new project, ‘The Wheel of the Year’ to provide a programme of community Irish Arts participatory and performance workshops across Leeds

‘The Wheel of the Year’ is the celtic calendar, and focuses on the cyclical change of seasons evenly spaced throughout the year, celebrating the transition of the sun throughout the seasons combined with the solstices and equinoxes. Lughnasadh (Aug 1st), Samhain,(Oct 31st), Imbolc (Feb 1st) and Bealtaine (May 1st).

Neighbours

Neighbours!

Funding has been secured from The National Lottery Community Fund and the Ireland Fund (GB) to deliver our 'Neighbours!' project, to provide a programme of community Irish Arts participatory and performance workshops in our neighbouring West Yorkshire local authority areas of Calderdale, Bradford, Kirklees and Wakefield.

The project will involve a range of experienced and emerging West Yorkshire based artists.

The Leeds Gathering featured some of the most experienced and emerging performers and artistes in the world of Irish music and arts. A city wide celebration of Irish music and arts designed to appeal to both those of an Irish background and people from the wider community.
