Collaborative Work

The Irish Arts Foundation works in collaboration with other Irish welfare and community groups in addition to other multi-cultural music and art schemes within the city, various statutory agencies, voluntary sector groups and umbrella organisations specifically dealing with community cohesion and regeneration.

The Irish Arts Foundation has established ongoing partnership, collaborative work and project inks across the city with an eclectic range of educational, community arts, music projects and venues including Leeds Museums and Galleries Services, Leeds City Libraries, Swarthmore Education Centre, Inkwell Leeds Mind, Seven Arts in Chapel Allerton, Headingley Music and Literary Festivals, Meanwood Community and Arts Festival and Chapel FM in East Leeds.

Particularly innovative partnerships and projects have been;

• Exploring the Musical Traditions of County Cork & County Kerry
• Exploring the Musical Traditions of County Leitrim & County Fermanagh
• The 'Milun' project with South Asian Arts - a performance group featuring two Irish and two Indian Musicians
• 'Celebrating the Musical Crossover Between Ireland, Galicia and Asturias'
• Exploring the Irish Musical Traditions of Mayo, Sligo and Roscommon
• Home from Home - Irish Music in Leeds, a documentary by Conor MacMahon
• An Irish History Month, March 2022, talk by Emeritus Professor of Music at the University of Leeds, David Cooper - former Chair of the Irish Arts Foundation Board of Trustees ‘1922 - Traditional Music and the Inception of the Irish Free State’

The links established with our colleagues at the newly established Irish Cultural Connectedness Exchange and Irish Consulate in Manchester, provide ongoing opportunities for collaborative project work on a national and regional basis.
